Biography
Deepak Middha is the founder of LayoffNext. As a U.S. immigrant with nearly 20 years of experience navigating employment, finance, visa planning, and career transitions, he writes practical layoff guides for employees, H-1B workers, and immigrant families — covering layoff planning, severance, benefits, unemployment, and job transitions in plain English.
Deepak is a Chartered Accountant (ICAI, India). He has 17 years of experience in hedge fund and private equity administration in the U.S., including as Vice President of Fund Accounting at NAV Fund Administration Group (Chicago area) and as Associate Director of Private Equity and Real Estate at SS&C Technologies (New Jersey) — work that involved fund NAV calculations, investor tax allocations, and fund financial statements. He has also passed the Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination).
As an immigrant who has lived and worked in the United States for nearly 20 years, Deepak learned the U.S. financial, tax, and career system firsthand — and understands the stress of navigating employment changes, immigration paperwork, compliance deadlines, and financial planning all at once. He has spent years documenting how it actually works — from banking and taxes to investing, real estate, and retirement accounts. That work grew into NRItoUSA, an educational platform for immigrants building a financial life in America, and he is the author of two personal-finance books — Building Wealth: Why Immigrants Failed to Build Wealth (2024) and Build Wealth and Income with 2 Option Strategies: Cash Flow In 7 Days (2025).
LayoffNext is the extension of that mission into one of the most stressful moments in a working life: losing a job. Deepak builds the calculators, checklists, and guides here to turn scattered, hard-to-find layoff information into clear, sequenced steps anyone can act on — for free. The visa-layoff guides draw on that immigrant experience: they are reviewed against official USCIS guidance and written to help readers prepare better questions for HR, recruiters, and immigration attorneys. This is educational guidance, not legal advice — always verify important immigration decisions with a qualified immigration attorney.
